Secondary Social Night @ Wonderbowl

Students in grades 6-12 are invited to a night of mini bowling, food, and connecting with peers and role models.  

Date: January 23, 2026

Time: 5:45-8:00 pm

Statewide ASL Beginner & Intermediate Sign Language Classes in English & Spanish

Class Format:  

  • Classes are for families and professionals working with students who are Deaf or hard of hearing. 
  • Classes will be held virtually from 7:00 to 8:00 pm CST on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning January 20th and will end February 26th. 
  • The same material will be covered in the Tuesday and Thursday classes for the week. For example, on January 20 and 22nd will be the same information will be taught. This will give participants the opportunity to choose the day that works best for them.
  • Participants wanting additional practice could come to both classes during the week if they wish.  
  • There will be 2 tracks for participants; a beginner track and an intermediate track.
  • There will also be a class taught in Spanish for any participants who would like that option.

CHALK IT UP!

Students will have the opportunity to visit Nebraska’s very own chalk mine and complete create an art project in chalk.

Date: March 27, 2026

Time: 10:00 am to 2:30 pm (plus travel time)

Location: Scotia and St. Paul, Nebraska

Grades: Kindergarten through 5th Grade

Communication Contest for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Individuals (CCDHH)Statewide ASL Beginner & Intermediate Sign Language Classes in English & Spanish

Students have the opportunity to win a $2500 college scholarship by presenting a speech about this year’s theme “The Moment I Realized I Belonged- My Definition of Community”.

Date: March 28, 2026

Time: 10:00 am

Location: ESU 9, Hastings

Grades: 10-12

Save the Date

Families with children birth to high school completion who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and receiving early intervention or special education services are invited to this year’s Family Camp.  

Date: April 24-26, 2026

Location: Covenant Cedars, Hordville, NE

Registration: Registration will open February 17, 2026.

Would you like to connect with a Nebraska peer who is also Deaf or hard of hearing?  SERP would love to match you up with a friend to correspond with through our pen pal program!  This is a great opportunity to meet and connect with new friends.  In the future, you may also get the opportunity to meet your pen pal in person at one of our SERP or statewide activities!
